The CAG is the longest standing independent public art gallery dedicated to presenting contemporary visual art in Vancouver. We deliver between ten and twenty exciting exhibitions and off-site projects each year, provide an extensive range of learning and public programs for adults, families and children, offer a series of residencies for Canadian and international artists directly contributing to the local scene, and publish insightful catalogues that create a lasting legacy of exhibited work. We do this while offering all of our programs free of charge through an admission by donation policy. We believe that access to, enjoyment of and engagement with contemporary art and the surrounding debates should be available and open to all.
Each year it costs over $800,000 to run the CAG. We are a not-for-profit organization reliant upon philanthropic support to survive and succeed. The CAG receives over 65% of its annual operating budget from the private sector.
Whether you are an individual, a trust or foundation, a business or corporation, you can help us in our work. If you enjoy contemporary art and want to contribute to the vital and vibrant cultural life of the city and province through supporting the work of the CAG, then please see the links to the left for further information.
The CAG actively seeks to build partnerships through corporate support. These relationships are a vital form of fundraising for us and mean that you are helping to secure the future of our institution, unique to Vancouver and the province. In joining the CAG you will become part of a community of leading Vancouver and Canadian companies and organizations who support the gallery’s mission of presenting excellence in contemporary visual art and creating engagement opportunities for people of all ages through innovative experiential learning and education programs.MORE
The Contemporary Art Gallery is generously supported by a number of individuals and organizations. Without both private and public funds we would not be able to achieve what we do, to continue to grow and thrive as Vancouver’s longest standing independent public gallery dedicated to contemporary visual art, continuing to offer access to and enjoyment of our exhibitions, learning and public programs, residencies and outreach, all free of charge. All of our donors and members make a significant difference to what we are able to achieve. We are also very grateful to our volunteers for their dedicated support in helping us deliver our programs to Vancouver and the province.MORE
A gift to our endowment is an investment in the future of contemporary art in our community, and recognition of the importance and vital part it plays in the cultural health and well-being of any city. As our Endowment Fund is the very core of the CAG’s financial foundation, by donating to this fund your gift will support the CAG in perpetuity.
Our endowment is held with the Vancouver Foundation and the interest generated each year helps us to meet our core costs whilst the capital invested helps to secure our future financial security.MORE
Giving securities is an easy and tax effective way to contribute to our annual fund or operating endowment.
When you donate securities to us directly you receive a tax receipt for the full amount of your donation and won’t pay the standard 50% capital gains. There is no minimum gift and we accept all publicly traded securities (securities listed or posted for trading on Canadian and major international exchanges). Securities include stocks, trust units, mutual fund units, and bonds.MORE
The CAG is a place for people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences to learn about contemporary visual art and the captivating ideas it embodies. Our exhibitions and projects engage and appeal to the entire community of Vancouver and further afield; dedicated events and public programs focus on teens, schools and families; and residencies provide opportunities to nurture, support and foster connections to artists and communities alike.
Each year it costs over $800,000 to run the CAG and crucially to provide our exhibitions and programs free to all. We rely on gifts toward our Annual Fund to achieve these ambitious goals and directly offset these costs. Donations from individuals like you will ensure that access to the gallery and to contemporary art is available to the broadest of constituencies, the widest of communities.MORE
