Meet Georgia | CAG Volunteer

If by chance you visit on a Tuesday afternoon or rent the gallery for an event, make sure you say hello to Georgia, one of our front-desk and event volunteers.

“I volunteer at CAG because I am relatively new to Vancouver and I want to engage with the art scene here. I used to be a freelance writer back in Dublin, writing art reviews and criticism, as well as other lifestyle topics. I haven’t had anything published in a few years (other than my thesis!) but I’ve been sending out pitches again recently.

I come from a very artistic family and studied fine art so I kind of knew everyone in the Irish art world. I’m working on trying to get that sense of ‘place’ back and knowing CAG by reputation, very consciously applied as a volunteer to connect with the local art community (and look good on my resume!).

I also recently got married to a lovely Canadian who I met while I was here two years ago completing an exchange semester at Emily Carr. We held an intimate ceremony at our house, but due to greater demand, we’re planning to host a big wedding party this summer. We may even host it at CAG.” – Georgia
