The CAG is the only independent public art gallery focused on contemporary art in Vancouver. We deliver five to ten exciting exhibitions a year, run educational programs for adults and children and publish insightful catalogues that create a lasting legacy of exhibited work. By focusing on emerging local artists we provide professional support at a moment when their work has received a certain rigour, clarity and commitment, and help to shape the Vancouver art scene.

We do this while offering our exhibitions and programs free of charge through an admission by donation policy. We believe that access and enjoyment of contemporary art and the surrounding debates should be available to all. We hope you agree.

We are a not for profit organization reliant upon philanthropic support to survive and succeed. Whether you are an individual, a trust or foundation or a business or corporation, you can help us in our work. If you enjoy contemporary art and want to see the work of the CAG continue then read on to find ways you can support us. Look through this page to find out more about our:

By donating to our Operating Endowment Fund your gift will support the CAG in perpetuity. Our endowment is held with the Vancouver Foundation and the interest generated each year helps us to meet our core costs whilst the capital invested helps to secure our future financial security.

If you are updating your will - or making one for the first time - you have the chance to express your support and affection for the CAG by means of a bequest.

The CAG strives to cultivate a situation that is deeply connected to its place and time. Our exhibitions and programs explore and record the fluid transformations of artistic practices as they are shaped by social forces. Through our work we foster dialogue, connection and new understandings of our shared meanings and values. If you should choose to remember the CAG in your will you would not only be making a generous gift you would also be helping to ensure that we continue to advance this vision.

If you would like to know more about remembering the CAG in your will please contact us. Your enquiry will be treated in the strictest confidence and you will be under no obligation towards the CAG.

Throughout the year we present five to ten exhibitions. Our mandate is to exhibit the work of Vancouver and Canadian artists in the context of art internationally and so our exhibitions include those of local emerging artists right through to established international artists. Each show is different but typically our costs include everything from curatorial research to artists fees, shipping to framing and more. Each exhibition aims to explore current issues in contemporary art and to bring exciting works and insightful ways of looking at them to our Vancouver audience.

The CAG is generously supported by a number of individuals and organizations. Without both private and public funds we would not be able to do what we do, to grow and thrive as Vancouver's only independent public gallery dedicated to contemporary visual art, and we certainly would not be able to offer our exhibitions and programs free of charge. We are also very grateful to all our volunteers for their dedicated support to help us deliver all of this.

We would like to thank all of our members, donors and volunteers.

If you are looking for an exciting sponsorship opportunity to promote your company and raise awareness of your brand, look no further. We're keen to talk with companies who would like to sponsor an exhibition or other area of our work. We can tailor benefits packages to meet your business needs including branding opportunities and client or employee entertaining.

Each year we raise funds to meet the costs of our diverse exhibitions and programs. We appreciate that different aspects of our work inspire our supporters and we want you to be able to contribute in a way that reflects your interests in the CAG. As such you can direct your donation in a number of ways outlined in the sections:

Our Annual Fund
Our Operating Endowment
Specific Exhibitions

Each year it costs over $800,000 to run the CAG and to provide our exhibitions and programs. A donation toward our operating fund directly offsets the costs of our free programs and exhibitions. Your donation will ensure that access to the gallery and to contemporary art is available to the wider community.

Some information about our facility
The CAG occupies a bonus amenity facility as a tenant of the City of Vancouver. Through this arrangement we have zero facility costs until 2021, at which time our Capital Endowment Fund will become available to pay our occupancy costs.
