For Summerland, Shannon Oksanen presented a new 35mm film and a painting series. The film was a remake of the waterskiing scene from the 1965 film Viva Las Vegas, starring Elvis Presley and Ann Margret. Oksanen used waterskiing, saturated colours, detailed costume, playful choreography and upbeat music to set back time. She also presented a new painting and drawing series that continued her interest in portraiture, celebrity and nostalgia. Here Elvis Presley was Oksanen's subject.
